Customer Background

The customer is an outdoor equipment brand whose products must cope with abrasion and impact in shallow water, gravel and reef environments.

The Problem

• The kayak hull abraded and scratched from long-term contact with gravel
• Tear resistance was insufficient and damage propagated under localised load
• Flexibility at low temperature also had to be maintained

What We Did

We supplied TPU air chamber film with a high-strength formulation direction and increased the thickness appropriately while maintaining cold resistance. We supported the customer through field testing and feedback collection.

Results

• Abrasion and tear performance met the customer’s test requirements
• No obvious embrittlement in low-temperature use
• Stable supply has been established
