Automotive interior supplier: introducing low-odour TPU material

Customer Background

The customer is a tier-2 automotive interior supplier whose products must pass the vehicle manufacturer’s odour grade and heat ageing assessment.

The Problem

• The previous adhesive film failed the odour grade at high temperature
• Localised bond failure appeared after long-term high-temperature use

What We Did

We recommended a TPU hot-melt adhesive film with a low-odour formulation system and helped the customer adjust the pressing parameters so that the adhesive layer melted fully without overheating. We also provided heat ageing resistant material options for comparative testing.

Results

• Odour grade assessment passed
• Peel strength remained stable after high-temperature ageing
• The project has moved into volume supply
