TPU film solutions for footwear and apparel

Soft, resilient, flex-resistant and washable — compatible with hot pressing, high frequency and seamless bonding.

Industry Requirements

Soft hand feel, but able to survive repeated flexing

Footwear and apparel products endure repeated flexing, stretching, abrasion and washing. Once the material delaminates, hardens or yellows, the appearance and service life of the finished product suffer immediately. For these requirements Shuangdie supplies soft TPU film, TPU hot-melt adhesive film and TPU laminated fabric, tuning hardness, thickness and surface treatment to match your process and hand feel.
  • Upper lamination and insoles need high resilience, fatigue resistance and no delamination
  • Waterproof breathable layers must balance hydrostatic head against moisture vapour transmission
  • Seamless bonding places strict demands on the melting temperature and flow behaviour of the hot-melt film
  • Apparel lamination must resist washing, avoid yellowing and stay soft

Recommended Materials

Typical products and specification direction

Final specifications are confirmed against your converting process and performance requirements.

Application Recommended material Key indicators
Upper lamination TPU laminated fabric / TPU hot-melt film Peel strength, flex resistance, hand feel
Insole TPU film (soft grade) Resilience, compression set resistance
Waterproof breathable layer TPU waterproof breathable film Hydrostatic head, MVTR
Seamless bonding TPU hot-melt adhesive film Melting temperature, flow, peel strength
Apparel lamination TPU film / laminated fabric Wash resistance, colour fastness, softness
Webbing and zips TPU film (thin grade) Tensile strength, elongation at break

Process Advice

Points to watch during processing

The experience below comes from customer production feedback. It is for reference; the pilot run results prevail.

The material breaks down during high-frequency welding — what should we do?

Reduce the power slightly or extend the dwell time, and check the thickness uniformity of the film. If the problem persists we can supply a formulation tuned for high frequency.

Peel strength after hot pressing is too low — how do we adjust it?

Usually start by raising the pressing temperature or pressure and extending the dwell time, and confirm the surface treatment of the substrate being laminated.

The laminate yellows after lamination — how can we avoid it?

Check whether the pressing temperature is too high or the dwell time too long, and select a raw material system with better yellowing resistance.

The laminate delaminates after washing — what is the cause?

Evaluate the hydrolysis resistance of the adhesive layer against the washing conditions, and consider a TPU grade with higher hydrolysis resistance.

The film feels too stiff — how can we soften it?

Lower the hardness grade or reduce the thickness, while checking that the strength still meets the requirement.
